How To Connect Two Computers And Share Files Between Them

Now we are back again with one more useful tutorial that how to connect two computers and share files between them without usb,cable.

We talk this whole tutorial into 4 simple steps.

After the fourth step you are able to connect two computers with each other and able to share files & data between them.

Now begins tutorial how to connect two computers :

Step_1: Important IP Settings : 

For windows XP 

First of all go to Start > Settings > Network Connections. Search for Local Area Connection and then right click on that. Now select properties , now a new popup window open in which Local Area Connection properties opens.

Now select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from here and press properties button . After this a new pop up window of Internet Protocol Properties will be open.

Now choose " the following IP Address and enter unique IP address of both of the computers.

For Local Network 192.168.1. (IP address be used in which any of the number from 1 to 255 ).

Let choose 192.168.1.1 for your computer & 192.168.1.2 for other computer.

Below IP Address "Subnet Mask " box be there in that box you have to write 255.255.255.0 and now enter or click ok.

Important thing is that we have to do the same process with second computer.



For Windows 7/Vista :


Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre. Now in left side you will see "Change Adapter Setting "  click there .

In opened page you will see Local Area Networking icon ,you have to right click there and follow the same procedure as we do with windows XP.

Step_2 : Make Work groups :

Now we have to make work group for both of the computers.

For Windows XP :

First of all go to Start > Control Panel > System .Now in opened box go to " Computer Name Tab " and click on Change button.By doing this step "Computer Name Changes " box , here give a name to your computer ( like laptop,desktop,computer1 ,etc).

Repeat same process with second computer.

Now choose a name for your work group in which both computers are member of that workgroup.

After that step fill up workgroup name in just below  "Member Of Workgroup" box. Do same process for both the computers.

Now close control panel ,your computer will restart to make important changes.

After restart your home network is ready to use.

For Windows 7/Vista :

Go to Start > Control Panel > System and Security System and click on " change settings " and follow the same process as we do in windows XP.

Step_3 :Just Checking 

Now check down that both the computers got connected or not.

Go to Start >Settings >Network Settings .Now go to "My Network Places " and click on Entire Network and then double click on " Microsoft Windows Network ".

Here we see your newly created workgroup name just double click there we see there name of second computer.

Now a little step remains that we have to access second computers material by just using network sharing property.


For Windows 7/Vista:

Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet and click on home group. 


We can see that second computer is already here in our network list.

Step_4 : Folder Sharing :

This final step is same for windows XP/7/Vista.

Now make a folder in both computers of which files you want to access from second computer name it as you want.Now right click on that folder and open properties of that folder.

Now a pop window opens ,select sharing tab from this and select "share this folder" and  name it as you wanted.

In other computer this folder will be looked with the name as you given here.

Now share and exchange files between two computers without cable or usb .
